15-hour prize drawing monday

Be sure to remind our patrons to log 15 hours (900 minutes) of reading by July 21st to be entered in the drawing for a chance to win a Friends' rental certificate.  Winners will be announced at next week's program, Approaching Star Trek.  Participants do not have to be present to win.

RPL Staff, while you are not eligible for the 15-hour drawing, don't forget to keep track of your reading for the 30-hour (1800 minute) staff-only drawing on August 11th.  For every additional 5 hours you read, you will get your name in the pot again.  Read on!

Library staff are vital in helping people locate and check out books. Here we see a 1941 image of two different librarians struggling to keep up with the crowd of youngsters at the Brooklyn Public Library’s children’s room.  We wouldn't know how that feels during summer reading, would we?  Check out this beautifully curated collection of vintage library photos from Mental Floss, highlighted in ALA Direct 07/02/14.

reminder: security workshop tomorrow

DON'T FORGET...

Tara will lead a Security Workshop on Friday, July 11th from 8:15AM - 8:45AM in the Stanback Auditorium at Headquarters for staff.

changing PINs over the phone

Patrons may now reset (or set, if they have never had one) the PIN for their account over the phone.  Just ask for their card number and have them verify the information from their account.  You may then set, or reset, their PIN.  We making changes to allow easier access to renewals, holds, and online tools for folks.  Thanks!
