like a hand and glove
Melody Moxley and RPL go together like a hand and glove, wind and wave, bread and peanut butter... But after an amazing 35 years with Rowan Public Library, Melody is retiring!
Melody began work at RPL on February 12, 1979, and has since been involved in nearly every operation at RPL. She began work as a liaison to small municipal libraries that once were throughout the county. Over the years Melody moved up in the system and became an assistant director under Phil Barton. She still holds this vital role.
Melody’s contribution to RPL has been one of heart and soul. She has always been concerned about the needs of others. Because of her generous spirit, she will continue in retirement to work with us at RPL. She will continue booking Friends trips and will work as a substitute at the reference desk.
We wish Melody the best during her retirement. Don’t forget the reception for her on Monday, March 31st (her last day) from 3:00-6:00 in the Stanback Auditorium.

welcome back, melissa!
From Jeff--
We are pleased to announce that Melissa Oleen has accepted the position of Children’s Services Librarian at Headquarters. This is the position being vacated by Erika Kosin’s promotion to Library Services Manager on the retirement of Melody Moxley.
Melissa worked for RPL as an Information Technology librarian and then as our Local History/Genealogy Librarian. She left RPL in 2002 when her daughter, Hannah, was born.
Melissa was appointed to the RPL Board of Trustees recently and will step down from that position upon her employment with the county. Melissa has been working for her husband’s (Doug Smith) law practice since 2003.
Doug, Melissa, and Hannah live on West Bank Street in Salisbury. We welcome Melissa back to the RPL staff!
