celebrating staff talents
RPL has some talented staff members, including Pam Bloom, who works part-time in the computer lab at HQ. Pam's acrylic painting, Frances in Still Life, is a tribute to her mother-in-law, who passed away several years ago. The painting was featured recently in the art gallery at St. John's Lutheran Church in Salisbury.

staff meeting thursday @ south
From Marian--
Staff meeting at South on Thursday, July 18th, 7:45-8:45 am. Breakfast will be served. Eggs, fruit, pancakes, coffee, and juice. Please send me any topics you would like to have covered or questions. I have a few of mine to cover, but the more we can be on the same page in the hymnal the better for the choir and the public we serve!

i love my librarian
From the NC Development Blog:
The Carnegie Corporation of New York/New York Times I Love My Librarian Award invites library users to recognize the accomplishments of public, school, college, community college, or university librarians. Up to 10 librarians will be selected. Each will receive a cash award, plaque, and travel stipend for the awards ceremony. Nominations will run through Sept. 6 and are being accepted online at ilovelibraries.org/ilovemylibrarian.
In 2012, one of the 10 awardees was Beatriz Adriana Guevara from the Charlotte Mecklenburg Public Library. In 2011, Jennifer LaGarde of Myrtle Grove Middle School in Wilmington won the award. Let’s make 2013 a third year for North Carolina libraries!
